Recently I've stumbled upon a YouTube/online movement called Black Women Going Their Own Way. A spin-off of Men Going Their Own Way on the same social media platform. What is BWGTOW about? It's a movement for Black women who want to disassociate from the Black community, particularly Black men. Now before you raise your eyebrow in suspicion and question these women's sanity, I got you boo. Here's a synopsis of what this movement is about below. As well as my opinions. Whether we question these women's sanity or state that they're "bed wenches" you have to comprehend where they're coming from and their valid points. Screaming White Supremacy or "Not all Black men" don't cut it for many Black women who've been victims of abuse and trauma at the hands of certain Black men. These conversations need to be had because if not, we're going to further push each other away as a people. As John Mbiti said, "I am because WE are and, since we are, therefore I am." We are equal reflections of each other, equally hurt but can be equally healed.
