Marinette Bois Sèch, means Marinette dry wood, or Marinette Pye Sèch, meaning Marinette dry feet. She is one the most alarming, volatile, erratic loa (spirit) in Voodun. She is extremely evil, her ceremonies are performed around a huge bonfire, where salt and gasoline are thrown into the fire. She is the ruler over all werewolves. As much as she is feared, she is and she is highly respected for sorcery skills.When she possesses a person's body, she brazenly brags about the despicable crimes she recently committed. Her physical appearance is noteworthy, her hands are bent, her voice is raspy, she often lowers her head and starts scratching. Her behavior imitates an owl, which happens to be her symbol. Her offerings exemplify her inhumane characteristics, she prefers a black hen or goat, then she proceeds to douse the animal in gasoline to set it on fire while the animal is still alive. She's pleased to watch gruesome scenes, and the smell of burning flesh excites her but she doesn't want anyone to bring her offerings and discover her secret house in the forest. If Marinette wants an offering, she'll search for it rather than a person search for her. Most people don't prepare an offering for her because they fear her very powerful presence yet, Marinette Bois Sèch presence is uncontrolled. Her rite of passage is the Bizango. Bizango is the maximum form of petro (a loa family). When some are posessd by Marinette they are able to walk on fire. The ceremonies take place during the darkest times of the night where the djab (devil) is roaming. Her color is red. Marinette is the wife of Ti Jean Dantor, he is the cousin of Erzulie Dantor.
